The trio of Paul Dutton, John Oswald, and Michael Snow have been CCMC since the mid 1990s, following several personnel shifts since the group was founded in 1974. Masters in their field (and in their respective individual fields), CCMC remains at the forefront of creative music, particularly free improvisation, combining Dutton’s soundsinging and harmonica, Oswald’s saxophone and Snow’s piano and synthesizer. Their music features individual virtuosity and collective creativity in the spontaneous invention of shifting tapestries of texture and timbre, with process taking precedence and form evolving organically. CCMC continues to create its music in concerts locally and internationally.

GRAVITONS RELEASE SPLIT TAPE WITH THURSTON MOORE ON WINTAGE RECORDS AND TAPES

FMR is excited to announce a new Gravitons Audio Cassette. Gravitons occupy side B of the tape while Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore contributed side A. This continues Wintage founder Kevin Crump’s relentless efforts to champion local experimental music artists, as the latest in a series of pairings of local recordings and recordings by artists of international renown. Gravitons are celebrating this new tape with a feature performance as part of the Wintage 5th Anniversary Festival.

GRAVITONS TAPE RELEASE = DECEMBER 11^TH 2010

On December 11^th 2010, Gravitons will perform along friends Six Heads and Man Made Hill. This is a release party celebrating the new Wintage tapes. This is a something for everyone kind of show, featuring Six Heads’s creative improvisations with self-made instruments. Nary a sound comes from these folks that we are accustomed to. If you love to dance, and you equally love music with substance, then Man Made Hill’s jams are for you. And hopefully by now you are a little familiar with Gravitons, but in case you need a refresher, we play dense fast music that carries a continuous energy for a long block of time. But never too long.

WINTAGE 5 YEAR ANNIVERSARY FEST = DECEMBER 8^TH 2010 until DECEMBER 12^TH 2010

Wintage Records and Tapes in five short years has emerged as a strong force in the experimental music community here in Toronto. Founder Kevin Crump, in addition to his own impressive musical efforts, is consistently releasing new music from local and international talent, forging connections and exposing new audiences to fresh music. Each festival event will be more than worthwhile.

Here is the information straight from the organizers:

Wintage is celebrating 5 years of releasing some of the most progressive & experimental sounds by Toronto artists, as well as those from across the globe. This fest will celebrate new Wintage releases by local free-punk duo Preanderthals, harsh noise legend Knurl, Matt Dunn’s Transcendental Rodeo and a split between free-spazz duo Gravitons & Sonic Youth front man Thurston Moore!

This fest will also coincide with Coolfest Toronto on Dec 9th & 12th, a traveling avant fest curated by Blake Hargreaves and now taking place in 5 different cities this Year. All proceeds will go towards the St. James Drop In Centre in Montreal.

Gravitons - It takes more than one go at cutting up a chicken to become an expert. However, once you've got the hang of it, you can cut up a chicken in very little time and with hardly any effort at all!
Perhaps the most important reason to learn how to cut up a whole chicken is that it will save you money. Buying a whole chicken is cheaper than buying pieces, and the leftover parts are ideal for forming the backbone of soup stocks. The same method can be used for cutting up other fowl like duck or squab.With a serving of Mani & Jill on the side, expect a full-on flavour explosion. (Edit: Gravitons are the knife, air (the medium for sound waves) is the chicken.)
The Warbler - Make your first plunge a gentle one. Initially the bell is full of air. A hard thrust will force the air back around the seal and blow water all over the bathroom and you!Once you force out the air, plunge vigorously in and out, maintaining the seal. You’ll be forcing water both directions in the drain, which will effectively loosen most clogs. Stick with it, plunging 15 to 20 times if necessary. Be patient. Try alternating between steady strokes and occasional monster heaves. If the Problem still persists check with William A. Davison.

Friday, March 9th, 2007, concert at 8 p.m. – The Music Room, Hart House, The University of Toronto; 7:15 p.m. composers’ talk.

Please join Arraymusic as we celebrate the release of Ten Planets, an inspired CD of intricate music for solo percussion performed by Arraymusic’s ‘true-blue’ Rick Sacks.

Rick will perform several works from the new CD, including The Waldo by Michael James Baker, Appollo’s Touch by Rodney Sharman, Glockenspiel by Barbara Monk Feldman and Rick Sack’s own Ten Planets as well as Factory. Composer Barbara Monk Feldman will be in attendance at the concert and earlier in the week will give composers’ talks at the Arraymusic Studio.

“These works represent some of the best writing for solo percussion in Canada,” says Rick. “Each piece contains an interplay between large space and a more intimate, poetic activity. This collection captures the extremes of percussion music from gentle lyrcisicm to explosive energy.”

On an earlier 2001 Sacks’ performance of The Waldo, The Globe and Mail wrote: "Baker’s musical language seemed to have reached its apotheosis – lyricism,structure, rhythm and melodic line combined seemlessly to provide a transporting musical experience." The newest FMR group will be featured in a benefit concert at Sneaky Dees on November the 2nd 2005. GRAVITONS were formerly known as Aston/Mazinani but have since adopted the new physical name. Their brand of non-rock non-jazz non-anything will surely rock you to your skeleton.

As you can see in the poster, this is a benefit concert for a group of young artists who are raising funds for an independent art exhibition. Norman Maschke is currently rocking it out in the band Glendora which frequents the Toronto rock club circuit. He is going to bring his rockin' sensibilities to his sensitive acoustic collection.

Headliner Andrew Harry will close the night with soft set of acoustic songwriting culled from his days and nights in Halifax. His alternative folk stylings will also be available on CD as "Songs for an EP".
